How can we ensure the future of life on this planet (at least til the sun dies)? I started attempting to address this question as a scientist studying the natural world, but realised that we probably won’t get very far if only scientists know about the scale of the problems on our beautiful planet – and the solutions to those problems. I’ve also come to realise that our main problems are political, not physical, and so the solutions have to be political as well. To this end, I’m getting involved in communicating about the climate crisis and mass extinctions, and engaging in collective political action.
